Beth Henary Watson

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER

I backed into the financial services industry. Specifically, some personal experiences in the workforce as a newly minted University of Texas graduate led me to scour libraries and the Internet for information about creating financial freedom.

I met John Berry during my tenure as executive director of the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce. John was one of our Chamber members, and had repositioned his business to focus on financial planning. By that point I’d read widely on personal finance and investing basics, and played with more than a few retirement calculators.

When I heard Corner Post Financial Planning was looking for a Marketing Director, I asked for an interview. That was in 2013. Over my years here, I’ve earned various licenses and, in 2019, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation.

Here at Corner Post I guide clients through our financial planning process. I enjoy sifting through a big pile of bank, insurance, pension, Social Security, and investment statements to help answer your questions like “When can I retire?”

Previously I was a professional writer, and I still enjoy writing about financial topics. You can see many of these on our Blog.

I have been married for over 17 years to Steve Watson and we have two young children, Winston and Victoria. Steve is a governmental auditor. Our family enjoys spending time together at home and in the outdoors.

My personal interests include reading and hiking. My favorite financial book is Your Money or Your Life and my favorite novel (this week) is Mrs. Dalloway. I am also interested in improving the community and currently serve on the Mineral Wells City Council.

Fun fact: I have an identical twin sister and a sister who is almost 11 years younger than I am.
